Hello, my name is Claus Gunti. I am an art historian, writer and curator based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
I am a lecturer and researcher at the University of Art and Design Lausanne (ECAL). I am co-founder of the photo-history journal Transbordeur, the book series Superscripte and the upcoming exhibition space Sludge. I like to work collaboratively, building projects through shared
authorship, dialogue, and collective thinking. More information here.
My research and curatorial practice focus on experimental photographic forms, with a particular interest in how technology shapes our ways of seeing — and in how artists question, challenge, and respond to these transformations. My book Digital Image Systems came out in 2020. In 2021, I co-published the book Automated Photography, a research project also shown as an exhibition in Paris, Lausanne, Seoul, Tokyo and Bologna. In 2025, I curated Botanical Murmurs with Danaé Panchaud, which explored our often paradoxical relationship with plants.
Currently, I work on an upcoming book on photography and AI, and the research project Soft Photography launched at ECAL with Milo Keller† and Clément Lambelet, addressing emotional responses to computer-generated images.
